This is the back alley behind Marlborough Street in the Back Bay.\u00a0 We used to live in an apartment here from ’76 to ’78, and this is where, as neighbors, Dad met my stepmother.\u00a0 The area used to be pretty affordable – not anymore!\u00a0 As rents moved up, our family moved outward from the city in ’78, and in ’81.

The finish line for the Boston Marathon was abuzz with activity on the day before the race.\u00a0 The finish line is right next to the BPL (Boston Public Library), which is at the right in this pic.

“The Tortoise and the Hare” here in Copley Square mark the end of the Boston Marathon route.
\nFor five years, I worked at the Copy Cop store (hidden behind a truck) across the street.\u00a0 It was a great place for people-watching…

Trinity Church and the John Hancock Tower make for a sharp contrast in styles.
\nI’ve tried to piece together several photos of the scene, as you can see by the discontinuities in the lines…\u00a0 It’s funny to see people trying to get pictures of the Hancock Tower, backing up to try to fit the whole building in the camera’s field-of-view, and then backing up again… and again…

For as long as I can remember, this fortress of a warehouse has stood next to Mass. Ave. proclaiming that it is “Fire Proof.”\u00a0 Now, I’m no pyromaniac, but this just seems to be taunting me to try something that I know I shouldn’t…\u00a0 Maybe it is some twisted MIT psychology experiment?
\nInterestingly, the nuclear reactor across the tracks has no such proclamation.\u00a0 So maybe this serves as a diversion?
